Dr Matthew Clougher was born and raised in Hobart. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 2006 and moved back to Hobart to start practising in 2007. Having worked in both the public and private dental sectors.
Matthew has gained great experience in general dentistry over a broad cross section of the community. He established a regional private practice in Swansea to service the East Coast of Tasmania in 2009, and has worked in both Swansea and in Glenorchy for the last 9 years which has given Matthew a great scope of dental practice.
Matthew believes in good tooth conservation and minimal intervention dentistry (“if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”), and has a special interest in endodontics (root canal surgery) to save teeth. He also has significant experience in oral surgery and confidence performing difficult extractions. Matthew is passionate about communication at a personal level and engaging with each patient as an individual.
With a variety of previous travel and work experiences, Matthew is able to engage with each patient at their own pace. He speaks fluent Spanish and French. Matthew enjoys a range of leisure activities including sailing, fishing, and bushwalking with his three children. He is married to Jane who is a GP in Hobart.
